Loved this post and see it happen all the time … it’s not obvious whether it’s possible to be at 10 and be happy, or not be at 10 and be “successful” if you don’t look inside and ask yourself what “happy” and “successful” mean to you. Congrats on giving yourself the space to think, recover, heal, and envision a new future!!

Exactly - it's all about going inward and choosing the pace, and repeating that process over and over again.

The irritability is so real! And then I feel like an asshole for feeling irritable towards my toddler. Where were the growth mindset children’s books when we were growing up?!

Oh I love this post and struggle with this. I know when I need to slow down, it’s usually when I feel literally on the fritz and looking in rear view. I am in the thick of mothering the littles and finally got the promotion I wanted…. So in theory I should feel OK coasting. But of course no. I’m a hard driving Type A achiever! So, I’ve settled with just being mindful of it? Easier said than done!

Being mindful is the first step! Eventually you may find the courage to slow shift into slower gear for a few moments at a time - and that might be just what you need to recharge.

I loved this, and relate so much. I, too, was operating at a 10 RPE in life until my two kids came along and reality hit that it wasn’t doable anymore - that I didn’t want to operate like that anymore. Going off on my own has allowed me to slow down and go after things on my terms. I’m all about doing LESS now, instead of more 🙌

I've made a similar shift recently and its been incredibly freeing to slow down and move at my own pace :)
